Turn off in-app purchases on an iPhone
Screen Time can block in-app purchases for every app on the phone at once. It takes about a minute and you can switch it back any time.
Steps (recent iOS versions)
- Make sure Screen Time is on: Settings > Screen Time.
- In Screen Time, tap Apps & Websites, then App Store.
- Tap In-app Purchases and choose Blocked.
On older iOS versions the same switch sits under Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > iTunes & App Store Purchases > In-app Purchases > Don't Allow.
Set a Screen Time passcode that your child doesn't know, or the setting can be switched back. Apple explains every option in its own guide: Use Screen Time to turn off in-app purchases.
What this means in Peel
With purchases blocked, Peel works exactly the same: every level and trip box is free, and every item with a coin price can still be earned with coins from playing. Even without this switch, Peel asks for a grown-up (a small sum to solve) before any real-money purchase, and Apple's own confirmation follows.
Questions
Will games still work with in-app purchases blocked?
Yes. Games open and play as usual; only the purchase itself is refused. In Peel every level is free, and every item with a coin price can be earned with coins from playing.
Can I allow one purchase and then block again?
Yes. Switch In-app Purchases back to Allowed, buy, and set it to Blocked again.
